Social infrastructure in the digital age. Is it really important for companies?
A good friend often tells me all the time: "If your people are well and feeling well, then everything is fine."
I analyze his expression for a second. Immediately, I consider your statement to be completely true. I love listening to it. Rarely, we have conflicting points of view. Furthermore, I enjoy his company because we connect easily on different topics.
I consider him a genius in developing solutions. When we work as a team we achieve – simply – wonderful results, almost in the style of superheroes; Batman and Robbin, the most iconic duo in the world, who use their skills and technology to successfully achieve their mission.
In these last five years in developing projects to digitize services, I have realized that thanks to his simple, but convincing point of view, we can make our way as leaders and incorporate that simple expression in any strategy to implement agile practices on a business scale. and obtain successful results.
Without fear of being wrong, I consider that the state of mind and motivation that you generate in people is the cornerstone to carry out the projects of any institution, mainly in the face of great challenges, various pressures, risks and extensive work.
Like a glove
With respect to the formal process of adapting companies to new digital demands, my good friend's expression - expressed at the beginning of the text - fits perfectly (a phrase used to indicate that something coincides with something else with a high degree of accuracy).
Possibly, what changes about the process is; what we should do, how we will do it and the agility with which we achieve it. In these changes, we must even get used to the fact that everything will be a living artifact that will improve based on lessons learned.
What was stated in the previous paragraph - SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), a model that implements agile practices at the business level and in which I have been trained - encompasses it in the concept of Empowered Collaborators.
Without a doubt, SAFe is one of the frameworks most widely adopted by companies at the forefront of digital technologies and businesses. Just look at the number of stories and success stories they have achieved through their expansion and the relevance they have taken on agile frameworks at scale.
I leave you the link to their website, so you can confirm and admire with your eyes the successful work they have achieved: https://scaledagile.com/insights-customer-stories/.
Another great contribution of this business agility organization is creating better software and efficient systems to meet changing customer needs.
“The Lean-Agile mindset is the cornerstone of a new way of working and an improved company culture that enables Business Agility. It provides leaders and change agents with the tools necessary to drive transformation, helping people and companies achieve their goals.""
You're probably wondering; Can a work plan be generated from this extract to influence my strategy of empowering my collaborators? The answer is no.
The concept is powerful and broad, but I have experienced that it is difficult to simply decipher the main ideas and turn them into actions that they can initiate in their companies.
However, I consider that the main premise to achieve a successful business transformation is to start from less to more, that is, with short, but safe steps and with a certain cadence.
Ideas and actions to take into account
It is my desire to see you succeed, which is why through my personal blog I share with you ideas and tropicalized actions on what you can do to get closer to the concept of Empowered Collaborators.
Personally, I love to base myself on the definition and scope that Sergio Restrepo, my INCAE professor, spoke about, who ensures that true Empowered Collaborators are formed through work and continuous effort, always taking into account three main axes :
1.Business Leadership.
2.Empowerment of People.
3.Organizational Culture.
To delve deeper into the topic, I will share with you the importance of keeping in mind the three fundamental axes so that you can successfully become an Empowered Collaborator.
Business leadership
Let's start talking about the first axis in action.
When my teacher referred to Business Leadership, he talked about less and more. You have to wonder how Mildred Cerda Soto is like this? …Simple guys.
Take into account that to be a good Empowered Collaborator you must be an influential leader, how to achieve this? …Play less of a micromanagement role and practice more collaborative work, as well as promoting creative freedom.
Control-oriented management is also part of the list of minuses, however you must adopt a more open stance in search of developing simple products, even if they are complex in nature.
Another aspect that distances you from true Business Leadership.
